My background |
1986 |
Though I wasn't born in Monticello, my family moved here in 1974, when I was 6 years old. I graduated from Jasper County Comprehensive High School (we've dropped the "comprehensive" since I graduated) in 1986. I attended North Georgia College, now the University of North Georgia, and earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in French with a minor in Math in 1990. While in college I studied at L'Universite Laval in Quebec, Canada. Upon graduation, I moved to Utah with my first employer, Delta Air Lines. I worked as a flight attendant for Delta for 11 years, and lived in Utah for 3.5 of those. I slowly made my way back to Georgia and ultimately Monticello. In 1995, I married Eric Arena, also a graduate of JCCHS and we have 2 children, Stephen & Zoe, who are now graduates of JCHS. Our entire family graduated from the same school system! I started teaching when my daughter entered to 1st grade in 2006. I spent my first 11 years teaching Spanish (and some French) and 6 years ago, moved to the math department. In 2020, amid the height of the pandemic, I completed my Master's Degree in Secondary Math Education.
In my free time, I love to READ, laugh, and hang out by any body of water (but the beach is my favorite!) |
